Tokyo Stock Exchange, Inc [TSE]

Tokyo Stock Exchange [TSE] is one of the largest international Stock Exchange and Japan’s prime Stock Exchange located in Tokyo, Japan. After New York Stock Exchange Tokyo Stock Exchange is the Second largest Stock Exchange in the World. As on 30th November 2009 TSE had 2400 listed companies (2400 domestic and 30 foreign companies listed on the exchange with a combined market capitalization of $ 4.3 trillion.

Tokyo Stock Exchange founded in 1st April 1949, with capital of 11.5 billion yen and issued shares of 2,300,000, registered as a Stock corporation on November 1st 2001.
The Tokyo Stock Exchange is a Stock Corporation that provides an Exchange Securities Market under authorization of the Prime Minister. Tokyo Stock Exchange was formerly a membership organization. However a revision of he Securities and Exchange Law allowed a stock Exchange to transform its organizational structure into a stock corporation so, on November 1st 2001 the Stock Exchange became a Stock Corporation.

The most important index traded on the TSE is the TOPIX which includes the TOPIX, TOPIX 1000, TOPIX Small, TOPIX 500, TOPIX Mid, TOPIX Core 30 and TOPIX Large 70, Nikkei 225 – index of companies selected by the . Nihon Keizai Shimbun (Japan's largest business newspaper) and J30 index based on large industrial companies maintained by Japan’s major broadsheet newspapers.
On 15 June 2007, the TSE paid $303 million to acquire a 4.99% stake in Singapore Exchange Ltd.
On July 1, 1969, Tokyo Stock Exchange introduced the TOPIX (Tokyo Stock Price Index), which is a composite index of all the domestic common stocks listed on the exchange.  The TOPIX is considered the best indicator of the financial condition of the Japanese stock market.
